Self Activating Flood Barrier

Added 12 Sep 2017 by Lorenzo Menin – Venturi

The Self Activating Flood Barrier (SAFB) uses advancing flood waters to automatically raise the barrier.

The SAFB can be used in many applications including along a waterway, river or coastal terrain, within flood walls, to surround a building, protect underground car parks, in a roadway, and to surround critical infrastructure.
Whilst in its resting position, all operational parts of the barrier are invisibly concealed in the underground basin, which shelters seals from the elements and means the system has minimal aesthetic impact. When the floodwater has risen to within 10cm below the pre-flood level the basin, housing the floating wall, starts to fill up prompting the barrier to rise and become fully deployed.
The operating costs are lower than manually operated systems and the SAFB provides 24 hour protection without delay.
